Stately Mansion with old trees
It was an early spring day in 2019. I was traveling through the stunning countryside of Ireland, not looking for any particular shot or landscape. I did know that from my past experiences, meandering through Ireland would never let me down. I found myself in the northern part of the country which has spectacular trees and stately old buildings.
I was on foot with my pack on my back. I ditched my car back at a public parking area because I feel that the true beauty of Ireland should be taken in on foot. While doing this could always lead to a good soaking for me and my camera gear. You just never know when the skies will open up and mother nature will give you a good bath.
Today was no exception. I walked about taking in the fresh spring air when I came across a stately old mansion. I could see the grandeur and history in the thick stone walls. Perfect, I had my spot to take some photos.
I walked up a very long driveway that led to the side of the mansion. I snapped some shots of the oak trees that lined both sides of the driveway. When I reached the main house, I saw what looked like bouncers and security guards. This was going to be interesting.
I approached one of the men "standing guard" and asked if I could take some photographs of the mansion and the grounds. He laughed, literally laughed right in my face. So, being the bit of a sarcastic person that I am, I said "so that's a yes"? This is a private event and you are trespassing, leave now, was his answer.
I followed his demands for me to leave but figured I would leave taking the longer path that crossed through the grounds in back of the mansion, instead of the driveway that I came in on. Security never blinked an eye, even knowing that I wasn't really leaving. I guess they just wanted me away from the front entrance. There must have been somebody very important or famous having a party here. So I would join the party with my camera, at least on the rear grounds.
Moving through the lush grass of the grounds, I made my way as far from the mansion as I could before falling in the lake that surrounded the back of the mansion. Wow, I was pleased with the view! The size of the trees, the facade of the mansion, the spring smell in the air. I snapped about 50 photos and then...you guessed it. Some very large men that didn't know how to smile promptly started picking up my camera gear as well as me and physically removed me from the property.
All was good though. I got some great photos and had an interesting time with the lovely security guys lol.
Lavish grounds of a stately mansion in Ireland. A huge tree adorns the foreground with its massive tree limbs hanging over the lush greenery. The landscape shadows fall in just the right places to give this photo the perfect look for hanging in any room of the home. Perfect for the bedroom, kitchen, dining room or even the home office.
From my camera to your home :)
